Psst, Matt Lauer, three words for you: Good Look Ink.

A camera man captures footage for GLI's upcoming appearance on Good Morning America

The Edina cosmetic hair replication business will be in a position to provide NBC’s “Today” show anchor with the illusion of additional hair after the company completes its exclusive appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Darrin Gerr, operations manager of Good Look Ink, confirmed that last week a “GMA” crew shot three clients who are undergoing the technique that camouflages thinning hair.

“They did a time lapse, a camera over the head of my technician, and every 20 seconds it was [capturing a frame] for six hours or whatever it was,” said Gerr, who’s “curious to see what this looks like in the end.”

“GMA”‘s Elisabeth Leamy is scheduled to arrive here Tuesday to see how the process worked on clients Naseem, Brian and Mike, all Minnesotans. The big reveal is scheduled to be made on “GMA” in the coming weeks. If you miss it, there’ll be a link at goodlookink.com.

Over the objections of Gerr, I simplistically describe the procedure as using pigment to pointillistically tattoo what look like hair follicles on a head.

This technique was first used to disguise scars from hair-transplant surgery, said Gerr, who prefers this explanation of the method:

“Like micropigmentation known as permanent cosmetic makeup and tattooing, which both use pigment going into the skin, this is a brand-new process. This is Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication (CTHR), which takes into account the different thicknesses of the skin on your scalp. The needle, the application

process are all unique. The end process is that people have the appearance of a full head of hair in a day, nonsurgically. The process has been perfected with nearly 1,000 men and women, to date.

“Micropigmentation is on the surface of the skin; over time exfoliation will eliminate it. Tattooing goes farther into the skin, draws blood. But CTHR is not on the surface and not as deep, but each impression is placed into the first and second layer of skin in its own little cocoon, so to speak, never to be harmed except by UV rays over time if proper precautions are not taken.”

Wordy, I know. Just remember that CTHR does not promise to promote hair growth — only give the illusion that hair is growing.

Follically endowed “GMA” anchors George Stephanopoulos, Josh Elliott and Sam Champion, with the thinnest hair of the trio, don’t look like prospective Good Look Ink clients to me. But Lauer sure does.

Somebody seems to monitor the cameras so that viewers don’t get angles of Lauer that reveal how bald he can appear when not shot from the front. Not that Annette Roque’s husband isn’t still quite handsome. And not that Lauer himself seems particularly bothered about the lack of hair on his pate, as
he certainly has the money to afford a hair transplant.

“We may go discuss it with Matt Lauer, and educate [more people about] this new option, after ‘Good Morning America,” said Gerr, “But ‘GMA’ asked for an exclusive, due to the time [commitment] from beginning to end to have this done.”

Read this at StarTribune’s website here

One Minnesotan helped create a new procedure that brings back the look of hair through indelible ink.

Most people don’t have a picture of the top of their head on top of their office desk. Darrin Gerr’s wall and desk are decorated with photos of his head.

It is no surprise when you learn he is the owner of Good Look Ink in Edina. The company created a new procedure that brings back the look of hair through indelible ink.

He says the process recreates the appearance of tens of thousands of individual hair follicles. It costs about $4,000 and can be done in a day.

Gerr, who had the procedure done himself, says people notice something different about him, but they just can’t exactly pinpoint what it is.

Gerr says the company, which started in 2009, is the only business in the U.S. performing this type of hair process. He says they have clients from all over the world.

The Good Look Ink technique has been developed to recreate the appearance of tens of thousands of individual hair follicles for anyone with hair loss. This Practice employs the process of ingraining an indelible pigment (Non-Surgically) into the dermis of the scalp, mimicking both the color and density of a living follicle. Good Look Ink will restore the permanent look of a full head of hair using the Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication process. The CTHR™ process will take between 1 to 8 hours to complete depending on your current hair loss needs.

Scar Camouflaging CTHR™ creates the appearance of a healthy scalp with a level of realism far beyond mere shading. Each micro hair impression is individually crafted to perfectly replicate a living follicle, providing not only a uniform darker scalp but the real illusion of thicker, fuller hair leaving no evidence of previous scars at a glance.

To the staff at GLI,

I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was very impressed with the way accommodations were handled since I would be traveling in for the process. I loved the fact that I was told that I would be taken care of from the moment I arrived to the time I left Minnesota. I now know what people mean when they say “Minnesota Nice”, as everyone I met made this process easy for me.

I have been home now for a week and people are saying “you look different” and nobody knows what I have done. I’m going to keep it that way I feel younger, look better, and can now wear my hair any way I want.

Thank you for creating CTHR™, and I wish you all the best.

If you’re considering hair replication,

You will be amazed at the results! I made the decision that I was going to do something about my hair (or lack thereof) and in the process of surfing the web researching other options, I learned about GLI and their CTHR™ process.

What appealed to me the most was the knowledge that CTHR™ wouldn’t interfere with the other options that I was considering. In fact it would enhance anything else, or as they say, “eliminate the need for anything else.” At a fraction of the cost! Its also non-surgical!

I am so pleased with my new look and I can’t begin to describe the way I feel knowing that I have officially closed this chapter known as hair loss.

I want everyone to know,

I found Good Look Ink, Inc on the internet as a fluke! I was looking for exercise equipment when I came across the ad in February. After numerous e-mails back and forth with a consultant I was interested to learn more as they answered all my questions and concerns. I had seen and heard about many hair loss options on the market today.

I’m 28 and have had 2 transplant surgeries and, was considering my third. I came in to meet with a consultant who had the CTHR™ process done. He also had scars from transplant surgery — well I couldn’t see them until he showed me — and I knew this was the place I needed to get, as they say, “HAIR PEACE” and boy did I! I wanted to have it done that day, but the first opening they had was in March, so I grabbed it!

I had been wearing a hat for the past 8 years and the day I left Good Look Ink, Inc was the last day I felt I needed to wear it! I told Leah that I was going to nail all my hats to the wall. This was the most freeing experience I have ever had in my life. This must be seen to believe, so I have offered to have my before and after photos on the Good Look Ink, Inc website as I want to share it with the world.

I was at the point where something had to give. Ironically, the more hair I lost the more time I was spending in the mirror combing my hair and using gels and products, not to mention avoiding activities that involved wind and water etc…

The bottom line is that I felt as though I was robbed of the quality of life that I deserved as a young man. Thankfully, I was referred to Good Look Ink and told about CTHR™ by my barber and could not be more pleased!

Had I known about this process before, I would have done it years ago. In one full day (only 6.5 hours), I had the look of a full head of hair, and now when I look in the mirror there’s nothing to fix and no more time to waste or worrying!

Thank you everyone!

How I look and feel is important to me, not only as a man, but for my career. I learned about GLI in 2009 and did my research. My wife and I went to meet with a consultant at Good Look Ink in February. After my consultation it seemed too good to be true, but the consultants all have had CTHR™ done so I had a chance to see the end result on 2 men I was amazed.

I have had 4 hair transplant surgeries at the cost of over $17,000. I had full coverage, but my hair was still thin not to mention the scars in the donor area. I didn’t have any more donor hair to give so this was the last option I had. Now I know it’s the best option for all people who have had transplant surgery as it completes the look of a full head of hair.

My wife and I came in for my CTHR™ process in early March of 2010. She was with me every step of the way. She was able to watch from the guest room through the whole process. What amazed me was the lack of pain and the instant result of full-looking head of hair! I could go out and have dinner and drinks with friends after it was done THAT NIGHT! The results were instant and the scars from the transplant surgery were now gone as they blended into the rest of my scalp.

After my previous 4 hair restorations, I thought to myself “finally, this is it”. Thank you GLI for helping me get the HAIR PEACE that I deserved!”

I have had a great experience working with all of you. Everyone is very friendly and dedicated to giving me the best experience I could have. My results with the CTHR process and follow-ups has been excellent.

I LOVE my new look and having short hair is so much easier than long hair, especially since I ride a motorcycle and boat. Getting ready for work in the morning is so much easier!

When I had the first procedure done I was very happy and later follow-ups to enhance the top of my head and cover up my scars from hair transplants looks awesome! Not one person has said anything to me about getting anything done. I feel the reason for this is it looks so natural. The other day my 11 year old daughter was looking very closely at my head and she said it is interesting how some of the hairs on my head were shorter than the other ones. I keep my natural hair about 1/8″ long. That was the best compliment I can think of for the procedure. People think the individual micro hair impressions actually look like hair.

I am very happy I had the CTHR process done and would recommend it to anyone who has hair loss or scars from hair transplants. Thank you all again for giving me the look I have wanted all these years. A look of someone with a full head of hair!

My future is so bright!

I want everyone to know what a class act GLI is! I went to GLI to talk about the Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication process with one of the consultants. After speaking with him I wanted to see a man who has had the process done. They arranged a time for me to talk with one of the clients of GLI. They say “seeing is believing”, and I have to agree. After seeing 1 of the men who had the process done, I decided to do it a week later.

I was a little unsure about doing the hair replication process when I came into the office. They noticed how I was feeling and talked to me before I did it. After all, it was “a permanent solution that doesn’t erase”, they even offered to let me come back some other day. I chose to move forward with the process. That day took 8 hours but worth every moment of time.

I did my process on Friday April 30th and went to work for the first time in 10 YEARS WITHOUT A HAT!!! My co-workers said “hey why don’t you have a hat, on and why did you wear a hat? You have a full head of hair!” That day I went back to truly thank the people and my technician for what they had done. My wife, friends and family love the way I look and I feel so much better. They said I would have HAIR PEACE, and boy do I!

Thank you GLI for all that you have done for me.

Hello to everyone there at GLI — Leah, Darren, Julie–

I find myself just walking around with such a great feeling today! I can’t believe the results, and my son has said nothing but great responses since our return. Members of our family just can’t believe how good it looks I want to take a quick moment to thank each one of you for your artistry (Leah) and your wonderful, beyond belief care with transportation, beautiful hotel, easily-accessible and good food, details such as arranging for Steven to come in to see the end result before we did the CTHR process, etc. I could go on forever about the millions of details that you so graciously took care of for us!

It was an amazing experience from start to finish. Julie, thank you, too, for the extra trip back for those papers. Leah, I have to say again and again how talented and patient you are and how your work changes a person’s life!!! (I was looking at all the bald men on the plane and kept saying to myself that my son will never have to look like that! What a miracle!)

Darren, I will not say thanks to you–as you told me not to–until a month goes by, but I will whisper it every time I look at my son, and will remember each one of you as I do. How can anyone really say thanks enough for creating a miracle which will make life so much easier for someone else?

A million thanks for everything

-JF, Mother of son in his 20′s from out of state.

To future customers, what can I say?

Losing your hair in your twenties is devastating. Well losing your hair anytime is devastating, but in your twenties it’s very tough.

During this time you are trying to start a career, find the love of your life, and really starting your life. Self-esteem is very important and when you are going bald your self-esteem really is hurt.

For me my self-esteem was really hurt. I hated going out in public without a hat and attending formal events was horrible. Weddings were the worst when you are trying to celebrate with your friends and you were too busy worrying about your image. However Good Look Ink has changed my life.

Once I meet with the staff I had the procedure done within a few weeks. Since then I’ve only wore a hat to block the sun. It’s been an amazing boost to my self-esteem.
I rarely think about my hair in public anymore, which is a huge relief.

Good Look Ink, Inc.http://www.GoodLookInk.com (GLI) offers a free, new to the world, Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication procedure (CTHR™) to one fortunate ABC viewer of Twin Cities Live in Minnesota, ABC affiliate KSTP’s popular afternoon TV program.

Some of the most interesting facts about Cosmetic Hair Replication are how affordable the process can be for those suffering with hair loss. Clients like Richard Woods are in and out in less than a day. Good Look Ink, Inc is the only place in the world that does CTHR™

Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication is the first Non-Surgical – Permanent – Maintenance Free – Affordable – Undetectable – Full Density option available in the hair replacement or restoration industry. In fact CTHR™ will work with, enhance, or eliminate all past solutions for hair loss.

With national attention, such as the story by FOX news in April of 2010 (http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/battling-baldness-with-ink-april-15-2010) GLI is getting attention not only in the US, but worldwide.

Good Look Ink, Inc is BBB accredited with not one unsatisfied client since 2008. Good look Ink, Inc. has clients from not only the United States, but worldwide. Recently men and women come from as far away as Brazil, South Korea, and Poland. GLI says that accommodating people who travel to Minneapolis is an important priority for the company and their clients. GLI has an inclusive program in place to accommodate all the needs of the out of town guest from transportation, lodging, and meals.

The GLI technicians are the real stars of the GLI family, true artists who understand the process and the clients’ needs, wants, and concerns.

Many of GLI’s clients are former hair transplant patients who may not have the post-surgery density or results they desired. Most have dramatic strip scarring http://www.goodlookink.com/hair-loss-and-scars/hair-transplant-scars from the surgery itself. Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication fills the gaps by adding density and camouflaging scars. In fact, it works so well that GLI works with hair transplant and restoration surgeons. Some of the doctors that recommend GLI are hair transplant surgeons from the Bosley group and even more impressive the renowned hair transplant and restoration surgeon Dr. Ron Shapiro of Shapiro Medical Group. Dr. Shapiro is one of the most, if not the most, recognized names in hair transplantation surgery and restoration to date.

Men and women everywhere can regain their confidence no matter their age without waiting a long period of time. The whole procedure can be done in as little as 2 – 8 hours. Richard Wood’s CTHR™ Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication process took only 6 hours, but the feeling and the results are amazing and can last a lifetime.

GLI is the world leader in Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication (CTHR™).
The office is located in Minnesota.

Video: C.J.: Good Look Ink is attacking baldness

According to Darrin G, producers who’ve worked with Oprah are aware of his camouflaging technique for thinning hair, but he’s not equipped for the onslaught that could accompany such a national airing.

For two years privately and eight months publicly, Gerr, operations manager of Edina’s Good Look Ink, has been working on a business that specializes in “Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication.” This is a process whereby dots of pigmentation are placed among the thinning hairs of a head to resemble individual hair follicles and thus create the illusion of hair.

Darrin has two technicians, Leah and Tonya, trained in this pointillist process.

Since a mention on, say, Oprah could bring a flood of clients, Darrin’s not prepared for that level of national exposure just yet, although the master plan is that “We’re going to make this global” eventually, said Darrin G.

I ran into him at Fox 9 — he’s been on many Fox stations — and got a chance to examine the finished product up close. See video of me playing in Gerr’s hair at startribune.com/video.

This process was first used to disguise scars from hair-transplant surgery. It costs between $500 and $8,400, reportedly hurts much less than getting a tattoo, and there’s no blood. The $8,400 is for a full head of 30,000 dots, the number required for someone with alopecia. The cost depends on how much hair you have left. The technique involves applying 200 or fewer dots per square inch to skin that’s visible beneath thinning hair.

Hmmm. Wonder if this could be what’s going on with Joey Lawrence, who has returned to TV in “Melissa & Joey,” an ABC Family Channel sitcom?

“That’s what everyone’s asking me,” Gerr said with a lengthy laugh.

Battling Baldness with Pigment

Published : Thursday, 15 Apr 2010, 6:08 PM CDT

MINNEAPOLIS – When your chances for long locks are long gone, you may embrace the idea that “bald is beautiful” or, it could end up your number one insecurity. But anew tool can help those fighting baldness.

Dave Miller, age 39, says he wasn’t obsessed with baldness, but it just never looked quite right on him.

He underwent a five-hour procedure called Cosmetic Hair Replication with a newly designed hair thin needle and mineral-based pigments to match his natural hair color. The technician colored permanent tiny dots to simulate hair follicles.

Once healed, the redness disappears and the color will lighten to match his real hair color.

Good Look Ink, Inc has been in the hair replication business for about two years. Darrin Gerr says “it’s not just for the really bald, but those with thin or thinning hair, are also perfect clients” because the procedure can make the remaining hair look thicker. They can also disguise scars from hair transplants or injury.

Non surgical procedure restores the permanent look of a full head of hair in one day.

Edina, MN (February 01, 2010) – Good Look Ink, Inc (GLI) recently announced a revolutionary hair replication solution at their Edina, MN office. They utilize a new process known as Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication that works with every hair loss solution available. It restores the permanent look of a full head of hair in one day and develops confidence and comfort in men and women who suffer from thinning hair, male pattern baldness, alopecia, or scars from transplants or injury.

“What amazes me about the result is how people’s confidence in themselves goes up the day they are done,” said GLI Operations Manager Darrin Gerr.

The Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication process is different from any other options to date. The GLI technique is non surgical and mimics both the color and density of a living hair follicle. Through the use of micro pigmentation, it employs the ingraining of indelible pigment, onto the scalp. When completed, it recreates the appearance of tens of thousands of individual hair follicles and is both permanent and maintenance-free.

Anyone with thinning hair, any degree of baldness due to genetics, alopecia, scars from hair transplants, burn scars, hair transplant recipients with unsatisfactory results, and those who wear hair systems and wigs are candidates for cosmetic transdermal hair replication. The high cost of maintenance that goes along with other solutions is eliminated and this process is affordable and competitively priced.

Good Look Ink, Inc began from a personal struggle that affected a GLI owner. In his early 20′s, he found himself in the category of 56% of men that experience premature hair loss. He began searching for a solution yet could not find one that was suitable. He invented the Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication (CTHR) process and vowed to change peoples lives, for the better.

“I wanted to see for myself how the pigment matched the natural look of a living hair follicle,” said a cosmetologist a hair salon manager. “I had the chance to see four people who had the CTHR process done. The men I met had black hair, ashy blonde, brown, and the one that amazed me was Tom who had no hairline and a very cool tone blonde and grey mix. I could not tell the difference between where the CTHR ended and the natural hair was.” From her salon and cosmetology perspective, Tammi added that, “It must be seen to believe as it is the next big thing in the hair and hair loss industry.”

Good Look Ink, Inc is a fast growing innovator in the hair loss industry. Their office is located at 5108 Edina Industrial Blvd, Edina MN, and can be contacted via phone at 952-378-1778. GLI can be viewed online at www.goodlookink.com. Email inquiries can be sent to info@goodlookink.com.

The birth of Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication (CTHR™ ): Armed with the knowledge of what didn’t work and why, he sought out to find a partner to help him achieve this goal. He was referred to a permanent cosmetic makeup specialist. She had over 10 years experience both as a permanent cosmetic makeup specialist and tattoo artist. She was an innovator and an out of the box thinker. Her idea was to manufacture a needle that was asymmetrical. Looking at the shape of a hair follicle she realized that she needed to make a cluster of needles that could make an asymmetrical group of hair follicles. She experimented with her first cluster on him. Each needle impression could make only a single impression without the risk of any pigment expanding (bleeding), and she must regulate the depth of penetration to only a fraction of that of a standard tattoo needle. Needles more than 2mm in length have a tendency to catch and tear the skin. She also knew that the pigment used could not be standard issue Iron Oxide, as these pigments do not implant true color. She new she would need to create a proprietary blend of organic pigment that she would need to create. The first full CTHR™ procedure was performed in 2008; the results were astonishing but not perfect.

The founders of Good look Ink, Inc start the research and development process to camouflage the scars from hair transplants, brain sugery, and trauma to the head. Cosmetic Transdermal Hair Replication:(CTHR™) began as most great innovations do, an idea born from a personal struggle. This one, affecting the owner of Good Look Ink, Inc. In his early 20′s he had found himself in the majority of men who struggle with premature hair loss.

He began diligently seeking a solution to recapture his youthful look. He first turned to a plastic surgeon to undergo a procedure known as hair transplant surgery in the hopes that this would put an end to his despair. The results of this procedure left him with substantial scars, both physically and emotionally. This was the beginning of a process that eventually led him to CTHR. (Read more about the history of CTHR)
