My mom. She never allows me to live below my capabilities and is always cheering on the sidelines. She's successful, outgoing and well liked. She can be so damn funny—never a dull moment. She overflows with love and happiness for her life.
Why You Do What You Do
Because I've been fortunate throughout my career to hold roles that truly, personally, directly and positively impact others. My career doesn’t feel like a “job” – it feels like my purpose.
Moment When You Overcame a Fear
I decided to travel to another country last-minute. I didn't know anything about the country and didn't have a guidebook (at the time, internet research was tedious–we're talking dial-up). I also assumed that most people would know some English ... naïve perhaps, but as an avid traveler, you can usually find someone. This was not the case. I was met with blank stares, sometimes ignored and brushed off. I was scared. But after a lot of drawing, charades and pointing, I realized the overwhelming power of the ability to communicate, just because we're human. I learned to welcome experiences like this and look forward to connecting differently.
Why You Think Having Confidence Is Important
Because without it, you limit yourself both consciously and unconsciously. You talk yourself out of everything, because you're afraid. Having confidence in yourself allows you to try new things, experience new adventures and live knowing that at least you tried.
